Preview of the National Conference (0:49)
If you’ve ever been to our National Conference, then you know we have the best venue at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel! With a view of the ocean in Southern California, life couldn’t get much better. Two of our ASA’s, Alexis and Da’Ron, took us on a little trip to our venue to give you a sneak preview of what you can expect to see when you attend our National Conference. They really give you a feel for what you can expect to see in just a few short weeks. We also had our host, Ashley, give a quick overview of the agenda and what you should be looking forward to when you arrive in sunny Southern California.
Investment Scoop (12:37)
Jeff Elvander, our Chief Investment Officer, encourages us to have another scoop of bonds in the bond market! Income and yield are now meaningful to investors and participants. They have been taking advantage of these short-term rates that can be found in your typical bond fund. Most of all of the retail flows are going into bond funds. It's probably similar when you look at retirement plans where some of the money is moving to, which Jeff believes it should be since short term rates are likely going down with the anticipation of a fed rate cut.
Jeff also discusses the current markets starting off with the lack of activity going on in the equity markets. It's really the fixed income markets that has been having more excitement. Year to date, it is up almost 100 basis points now as rates have come down. Make sure to check out some of our fixed income offerings for your client's plans! Benefits of Investment Reenrollment with Capital Group (23:22)
According to Capital Group, investment reenrollment can help improve retirement outcomes. Some participants, while given direction, can still choose to invest their retirement accounts unwisely, choosing more aggressive funds later in their career or not aggressive enough in their early careers. This reenrollment can give participants the opportunity to align their investments with their retirement goals. The benefits of this for plan sponsors includes supporting their plan's success (now covered by safe harbor protection) and possibly cultivating higher satisfaction rates for their employees.
Tax-Exempt Marketplace Opportunities with OneAmerica (25:15)
As a sales director on OneAmerica's tax exempt practice leadership team, Jennifer Jenkins will be talking about opportunities in the tax-exempt marketplace at our National Conference as a speaker. OneAmerica has a strong history working with their nonprofit healthcare and governmental clients that dates back to 1963 and they want to share some of the knowledge that they have accumulated over those years with our members. Jennifer gave us a sneak peek at what you will be hearing from her session in September.
